For owner-run businesses

AI can't read your filing cabinet.

I build the software your business runs on, from the app your team works in to the database behind it. Then AI has something to work with.

What it runs on now
  • Excel
  • QuickBooks
  • Whiteboards
  • Scanned PDFs
  • Email threads
  • Group chats
  • Paper files
  • Someone's memory

What I build

Built around how your team works today.

One app for the team

Instead of

A shared spreadsheet and the person who keeps it alive.

One app the whole team works from. It works on their phones too.

A quote builder

Instead of

Every quote typed up in Word, with the same line items retyped.

Pick the items and it prices the job from your rules. The customer accepts online.

Records out of PDFs

Instead of

Job sheets and contracts nobody can search.

Every document read into one database you own, so you can search it.

Reports every morning

Instead of

A month-end report built by hand, two weeks late.

Built overnight and in your inbox by 7am.

AI that does the typing

Instead of

Someone typing every emailed order into the system.

AI reads the attachment and enters it. Anything it isn't sure about goes to a person.

An assistant that knows your business

Instead of

Asking the one person who remembers.

Answers from your own records, with the source document linked.

What you get

You own everything I build.

  1. 0130 minutes

    Call

     No charge

Tell me what's slowing your team down. I'll tell you whether I can help, and what I'd build first.

  2. 022 weeks

    Scope and prototype

    Depending on the build$2.3–4.6k

We work out what to build, and I make a working prototype: an app you can click through, or a test run on a sample of your records. It ends with a written scope and a fixed price for the build.

  3. 034 to 8 weeks

    Build

    Typically$15–40k

I build what's in the scope, at the fixed price. You see it working every week until it launches.

Only need one small tool? That's usually two weeks, and typically $6,000 to $10,000.

Support after launch is optional: keeping things running, and small improvements as you go. It starts at $500 a month, depending on how much time you need, and you can stop any time.

Who you'd work with

I'm Jasper. Catkin Labs is just me, so you deal with the person doing the work.

Questions people ask

Anything else, email me.

Do I need AI at all?

Maybe not yet. Getting your records into one place often fixes the problem by itself, and I'll tell you if that's where to stop.

Why not buy software off the shelf?

If something off the shelf fits, buy it, and I'll tell you so on the call. When it doesn't fit, your team works around it, and that's usually where the retyping comes from.

Do you need to visit?

No. Your team shares their screens and shows me the paperwork on a phone. We meet on video once a week.

What if our records are on paper?

A local scanning service scans them. I take it from there.

Where does my data go?

Into accounts you own, and it stays there. The code is yours too, so anyone can pick it up after me.

How accurate is it?

Typed documents extract well. Handwriting and bad scans don't, so anything the system isn't sure about goes to a person. Before launch I test the AI on 50 real questions from your team.

What does it cost to run?

The AI and hosting bills go to your own accounts. The scope comes with an estimate of the monthly cost.

Start with a call

Bring the job that takes too long, or a question you'd want AI to answer. There's no charge for the call.
